Client of the Month
CONGRATULATIONS DELIA!
Delia F. has been voted Client of the Month by the Client Advisory Committee (CAC) for completing numerous CCSF classes in child care. Delia, like many young adults at The Arc, is working hard to achieve her dream of working with children and, once certified, will be qualified to work as a teacher’s assistant at a local preschool.
Self-Advocates
This is the self-advocate’s branch of our website. If you are a person with a developmental disability and a client of The Arc San Francisco, you are a self-advocate and this is the section for you.
There are lots of resources and activities at The Arc and in the community for you. Whether you are interested in learning new skills, getting a job, becoming involved in client leadership or finding fun things to do, we can support you.
Here are some helpful links to get you started:
Know Your Rights
Click here to learn more about your rights as a client of The Arc San Francisco and as a citizen of California.
Client Services
The Arc offers many services for creating the life that you want. Download a copy of The Arc’s “Client Services Handbook” so you can make the most of your membership with The Arc.
Client Advisory Committee
Become a better self-advocate, work with other clients to improve The Arc, and make some new friends, too. The Client Advisory Committee meets every week to improve themselves and make things better for everyone with disabilities. See what’s new on the CAC MySpace page at http://www.myspace.com/thearcsfcac.
Social Opportunities
- We Gotta Dance: A dance party for clients and friends held the third Friday of every month at The Arc San Francisco, 7:00-9:00pm. Check our Calendar for the next “We Gotta Dance” event.
- Best Buddies: Talk to your instructor about meeting a new friend from Best Buddies. You and your Best Buddy can do fun things together after hours or on weekends.
- Spit It Out: Like to write an advice column? Offer your opinion on the latest movies? Or update readers with important news? Become a stringer for “Spit It Out”, a newsletter by, for and about clients of The Arc San Francisco. Ask your Instructor how to connect to the SIO team.
