Roommates for many years, Arc clients Rose and Connie like a clean kitchen.

Property Managers

At The Arc of San Francisco, we’ve been connecting responsible tenants with disabilities to housing providers for decades. Our Independent Living Services ensure that, with the right support, our clients who wish to live independently can achieve their dream. And property managers have a source of new tenants who are a dream come true:

  • Financially responsible: With one-to-one support from a dedicated Arc Instructor, clients are supervised to make sure bills are paid and the rent is always on-time.
  • Reliable occupants: Clients of The Arc are trained in good housekeeping practices. They take their daily living responsibilities very seriously and work hard to meet expectations and keep their homes clean and safe.
  • Stable tenants and good neighbors: Most clients work or volunteer in the community; many are students. Their lives are busy, and their home life is quiet and stable.

Screening for Success

The Arc conducts individualized assessments to find the right tenant-housing match, whether it’s a senior seeking her own studio or two young adults seeking a flat. All clients are evaluated for individual preferences, abilities and financial realities before any meetings with housing providers take place.

Financial Security

Many Arc clients are able to support themselves, others get a rent subsidy through Section 8, in which the federal government pays a portion of their rent. In either case, housing providers are assured of rents that are paid on time because Arc staff oversee this responsibility directly with clients.
