Volunteering at St. Anthony’s helps clients build employment skills while giving a much-needed hand in the community.
Integrated Work Services
Integrated Work Services (IWS) provides a completely individualized program combining paid employment, volunteering, community college education, social and recreational activities. IWS is for clients who do not need constant accompaniment or who are getting ready for a full-time job.
A weekly schedule for some IWS clients might include literacy classes or computer lab at City College, swimming at the YMCA and an afternoon of paid employment as a file clerk in a downtown office. The goal is to help clients experience a range of activities and refine their work skills so they are better prepared to join the full-time workforce and integrate successfully into the work-life world.
Clients of The Arc get valuable job training while making a difference in our community as volunteers at over 25 service organizations in San Francisco. Our volunteer sites include:
- Meals on Wheels
- Parks Conservancy
- St. Anthony’s Clothing Center
- Bayanihan Community Center
- San Francisco AIDS Foundation
- PAWS
